There are many different types of peptides that are utilized in skin care products, and while they are often all placed into one category, in reality many of them are very different and function in entirely different manners. One of the more popular and most effective is Matrixyl 3000. Matrixyl 3000 combines 2 effective peptides that have a cumulative effect on one another. The active ingredient works to mimic the appearance of broken down collagen in the skin, causing the skin to react by creating more collagen & elastin.
Proteins, specifically collagen, are made of long strings of amino acids. When damaged, these long strands of amino acids are broken into shorter strands, referred to as peptides. When these shorter strands of amino acids are sensed in the skin, the body believes it has been damaged and naturally produces more collagen, elastin and other elements.
Another different form of peptide works to strengthen capillaries and veins. By doing so, they help to increase micro-circulation and drainage and are very effective at battling bags, sagging skin and swelling around the eyes. When used in conjunction with Matrixyl 3000 and Argireline, the effects on the eye region can be amazing.
Argireline, or neuropeptides, are another family worth mentioning that work to effectively reduce minor muscle contractions, and inhibit the formation of wrinkles. They act by inhibiting the docking of the neurotransmitters between muscles cells, reducing the occurrence of minor wrinkle formations from commonly made facial expressions. Acting in a similar fashion to a very light, topical botox, these neuropeptides are a very effective ingredient in anti-aging creams.
Skin care is evolving and more and more effective ingredients are becoming available. Educate yourself and find the active ingredients that fit what you are looking for. There are alternatives to injections that work remarkably well.
